Coastal Carolina University's story began in 1954 when the institution was founded by a group of local citizens determined to bring higher education to the regions. While enrollment has grown to more than 10,000 students, Coastal Carolina University still maintains its small-college feel while providing the opportunities that distinguish a much-larger university.
