A message from the CEF President:

As President of the Board of Directors, I welcome you to the Coastal Educational Foundation.  The Foundation was formed in 1954 by a group of citizens interested in establishing an institution of higher education in the Waccamaw region of South Carolina.  Our mission is to seek and provide resources for the betterment of Coastal Carolina University.  Since its inception, the Foundation has been extremely active in its fund raising efforts for Coastal and has conducted several successful campaigns.   

In the interest of building a greater Coastal Carolina University, the Foundation seeks financial support through annual gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving and other ongoing fund raising programs.  It is the responsibility of the Foundation’s Directors to manage and disburse assets prudently within a policy that encourages the enhancement  of the resources of the Foundation including fiduciary oversight of restricted and unrestricted endowments.  We are very pleased that our efforts have contributed to Coastal Carolina University being ranked in the top 15 percent of the nation's four-year undergraduate institutions in "America's Best Colleges 2009," compiled by Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP).

We look forward to assisting you with your financial support of Coastal, assuring you that we will manage it prudently to build an even greater Coastal Carolina University.

A message from the CEF Executive Director:

The Coastal Educational Foundation’s founding actually predates the founding of the institution of higher education which—through several evolutions—is known today as Coastal Carolina University.  And, the Foundation has been an important partner, collaborator, and supporter of this University every step of the way.  Our goal has been and continues to enable and fund Coastal Carolina University as it has grown from a small community-based two-year college to a regional, and even national university, of renown.  In fact, in 2009, Coastal Carolina University achieved this national recognition with Forbes Magazine ranking it among the top 15% of all higher education institutions in the nation.

The accomplishments of the Coastal Educational Foundation and its vital support of the University for over half a century resides in the generosity of its endowers and donors, the collective wisdom and commitment of our volunteer Directors, a devoted and professional staff, and the truly working partnership we share with those leaders who serve and support Coastal Carolina University.

We welcome all those—especially our alumni-- who share in our vision of a growing, vibrant, community-minded teaching institution recognized for excellence and integrity in every facet of its life.  If you are of a mind to share your “time, talent, or treasure” with us, you will be gratefully received.
