A message from the CEF Chair:
As Chair of the Board of Directors of Coastal Educational Foundation, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the extraordinary growth and dynamics of Coastal Carolina University – the fastest growing university in South Carolina, and an educational environment which is not only exciting, but extremely diverse. Coastal has developed a unique philosophy and mindset to promote the student to be ready for 21st century challenges and opportunities. CEF supports a superior institution which merits your consideration, contributions and young people. We are very proud of the advances made since our founding in 1954. We look forward to educating future students, watching our graduates advance in life while promoting their environment, community and country.
In the interest of building a greater Coastal Carolina University, the Foundation seeks financial support through annual gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving and other ongoing fund raising programs. It is the responsibility of the Foundation’s Directors to manage and disburse assets prudently within a policy that encourages the enhancement of the resources of the Foundation including fiduciary oversight of restricted and unrestricted endowments. We are very pleased that our efforts have contributed to Coastal Carolina University being ranked in the top 15 percent of the nation’s four-year undergraduate institutions in “America’s Best Colleges 2010,” compiled by the Forbes and Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP).

The Coastal Educational Foundation’s founding actually predates the founding of the institution of higher education which—through several evolutions—is known today as Coastal Carolina University. And, the Foundation has been an important partner, collaborator, and supporter of this University every step of the way. Our goal has been and continues to enable and fund Coastal Carolina University as it has grown from a small community-based two-year college to a regional, and even national university, of renown. In fact, in 2009, Coastal Carolina University achieved this national recognition with Forbes Magazine ranking it among the top 15% of all higher education institutions in the nation.
The accomplishments of the Coastal Educational Foundation and its vital support of the University for over half a century resides in the generosity of its endowers and donors, the collective wisdom and commitment of our volunteer Directors, a devoted and professional staff, and the truly working partnership we share with those leaders who serve and support Coastal Carolina University.
We welcome all those—especially our alumni-- who share in our vision of a growing, vibrant, community-minded teaching institution recognized for excellence and integrity in every facet of its life.
