Honors Symposium

The Honors Symposium is an opportunity for students in the HTC Honors College to publicly present their scholarship.

Honors students are involved in a variety of forms of scholarship each year. Honors students in Business, Education, Humanities, and Science all use the skills that they learn to go beyond the normal curriculum and seek out new knowledge. Many students present their scholarship at the CCU Undergraduate Research Competition or at regional or national conferences.  Each year, the HTC Honors College also holds a Symposium for honors students to present their scholarship. This event is held at the end of the Spring semester, usually during Reading Day before exams. The 2024 Symposium will be held on April 22th in the Allen Ballroom in Singleton Hall.

The Honors Symposium is a place for Honors Program students to present their honors research/scholarship/creative works! It provides an opportunity to present  thesis research (or any other honors-related research) in public.

You may access the Online Registration Form here.

The deadline for registering is March 22!

Important details:

  • You can do a 10-12 minute presentation, OR a poster, OR a gallery presentation of your work.
  • You can present research that you’ve already presented elsewhere, if you wish.
  • This symposium is not required for everyone’s thesis presentation; it is one option. You must publicly present your work somewhere, though!
  • If we run out of time-slots for presentations, we will prioritize seniors, those who have not presented elsewhere, and those who register early. We will ask other students to provide a poster instead.
  • The registration form needs your title, your thesis mentor details, and a short abstract/description for the program.
  • The Honors Program will print posters for students for this event. Please provide us with the poster in PDF form at least a week before the event. If you need a template for a poster presentation, please request one from the director.
  • Poster Presenters will drop off their posters for display earlier in the day, but should be present by their posters from 4-5pm to answer questions from attendees.
