Coastal Carolina University continues to offer prospective students from South Carolina various options for gaining admission to the University. CCU was the first public university in the Palmetto State to establish two unique initiatives for qualified students: a Top Ten Guarantee program, which offers guaranteed admission for the state’s top 10% of high school graduates, and a test-optional admission policy.

“Coastal Carolina University is proud to be at the forefront of college admissions in offering these admissions programs to prospective students,” said Amanda Craddock, CCU’s vice president for enrollment management. “Our priority is to provide access for our South Carolina residents who want to call Coastal Carolina University their home.”

High school seniors interested in enrolling as freshmen via CCU’s Top Ten Guarantee program must complete an application and submit an official high school transcript showing class rank. Students who meet all requirements will be guaranteed admission to the University.

CCU also allows freshman applicants who have earned a minimum 3.5 high school GPA to choose whether or not to submit standardized test scores. Applicants choosing to exclude test scores should provide evidence of a challenging academic curriculum that predicts future college success and possess demonstrated leadership in extracurricular, work, or service experiences. They also are highly encouraged to submit additional information to support their application, such as letters of recommendation and an essay or personal statement.
