Coastal Carolina University is hosting its annual Wellness Week from Feb. 18-23, with daily events that encourage the University’s students, faculty, and staff to live healthy lifestyles. Wellness Week is sponsored by the University’s LiveWell Office and the CCU Wellness Coalition.

“Wellness Week is an opportunity for LiveWell and campus partners to engage students in learning activities around the nine dimensions of wellness,” said Marguerite O’Brien, director of LiveWell. “These activities reinforce the key messages of safety, bystander intervention, harm reduction, healthy relationships, and belonging that we promote in the fall through programs such as Chant Life and Teal Nation Welcome.”

A highlight of the week is Wellness-Palooza, a day focused on promoting the nine dimensions of wellness – physical, emotional, social, financial, occupational, cultural, spiritual, intellectual, and environmental. The event, featuring booths representing each dimension, will be held in the HTC Center concourse on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees can earn a free T-shirt through their participation at different stations, and free healthy snacks will be served.

Also on Wednesday, Feb. 21, attendees can climb the HTC rock climbing wall during the free Rock the Wall event. Everyone who climbs the wall will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last, and participants will have a chance to win other prizes as well.

The week’s other activities include physical activity and group exercise classes in the HTC Center studios, from restorative yoga on Sunday to Pilates on Friday. Campus experts will host hour-long sessions on mental and spiritual wellness, environmental wellness, physical wellness, financial wellness, and mental health. Visit Wellness Week for a full event schedule and registration information for various sessions.
