Nationally renowned photographer Zora Murff brings his work to CCU's Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery in "Corrections," on exhibit Monday, Feb. 25 through Friday, March 29. Join the artist for a lecture at 11 a.m. and a reception at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Murff's photography focuses on how images are used to reinforce social and cultural constructs including race and criminality. His work has been exhibited internationally and featured online in Aperture Magazine, the New Yorker, VICE Magazine, the British Journal of Photography and The New York Times.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

FILM

The Department of History presents a free screening of "Free State of Jones" (2016) at 5 p.m. in the Coastal Theater (Lib Jackson Student Union, A-110) as part of the Edwards College Film Series. Set during the Civil War, "Free State of Jones" tells the story of defiant Southern farmer Newt Knight and his extraordinary armed rebellion against the Confederacy. After the screening, Matthew McDonough, lecturer in CCU's Department of History, will lead a discussion on the film's historical context.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

FILM

The Department of Politics presents a free screening of "Our World: Iran's Nuclear Deal" at 5 p.m. in the Coastal. Theater (Lib Jackson Student Union, A-110) as part of the Middle East Film Series. This 2016 BBC documentary details the people, issues and context surrounding the political drama that involved a stalemate and threat of military action, ending in a historic 2015 agreement. After the screening, Amir Maleki, director of International Student and Scholar Services in CCU's Center for Global Engagement, will lead a discussion on the film's historical and political context.

THEATER

The Department of Theatre presents "Steel Pier" (1997), with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The musical is set in a 1933 Atlantic City ballroom, where a crowd is gathered to compete for a $2,000 prize and a shot at showbiz fame. Adam Pelty, assistant professor and associate chair of the Department of Theatre, directs the production. Additional performances are Feb. 28 and March 1 at 7:30 p.m. and March 2 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

LECTURE

The Jackson Center for Ethics and Values presents "First in My Family" at 6 p.m. in Brittain Hall, Room 112, as part of the Tea and Ethics discussion series. A panel of students, faculty and staff will explore the distinctive challenges and opportunities of students who are the first members of their families to go to college. An open discussion with the audience will follow the session, focusing on the design of a summer orientation session for first-generation students and their families.

Ron Green, associate professor in CCU's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, presents a lecture titled "Esoteric Buddhism and the Environment (Internal and External)" in the Burroughs and Chapin Center, Room 100, with a coffee social at 9:30 a.m. and event at 10 a.m. The lecture focuses on the ideas and practices that make esoteric Buddhism unique, and the event is sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) as part of the Perspectives from a Variety of Religions lecture series.
