1+2+1 PRELICENSURE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

About the Program

The 1+2+1 prelicensure partnership program is a collaborative BSN program between Coastal Carolina University (CCU) and Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC). Students in this program are admitted to CCU and attend pre-nursing classes at CCU for the first year.

For the second and third years, students in the 1+2+1 program will take classes at HGTC to earn an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in nursing and take the RN licensing exam. Students who successfully complete these steps will return to CCU for their senior year, taking classes to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Admission Information

Participation in this program is highly competitive. Students must meet all freshman entrance requirements and be admitted to CCU as first-time freshmen. Admission to nursing is not test optional.

The 1+2+1 prelicensure partnership program requires that students have a minimum SAT score of 1100 (evidence-based reading and writing plus math), or a composite ACT score of 22, or TEAS score of 78%. The TEAS is an acceptable alternative to ACT or SAT scores. Click here for test registration information or contact the University Testing Center. Students wishing to change their major to nursing must meet the same minimum test scores and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Admission is competitive, so meeting the minimum is not a guarantee of acceptance.

The program size is limited and fills early. Prospective students should apply by the October 15 early decision date or the November 15 early action date. It is likely this program will be full by February 1. Students who accept an invitation to the program will be able to use CCU merit awards during their first year at CCU. However, students will not be able to use those benefits at HGTC, but may be eligible for merit awards from HGTC.

Both the HGTC nursing program and the CCU B.S.N. completion program are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Inquiries can be made to Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30326. Phone: 404-975-5000. Email: info@acenursing.org.
