2000
Guy Ackerman was recently named director of sales for Lennar Homes’ Coastal Carolina Division. He helped lead the division to a record-breaking year in sales in his former role as area sales manager. Ackerman lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife, Renee, and two children, Cole and Caitlin.
Kelly Miles Barr, a 7th-grade math teacher at Gilmer County High School in Glenville, W.V., has been selected as a Renaissance Learning Distinguished Educator for her work with the STAR Math Program. She has been asked to submit a presentation proposal for the National Council of Math Teachers conference.

Leah Lubas, formerly the general manager of Dagwood’s Deli, is now a member of the CresCom Bank retail mortgage operations team.

Casey Gelvin has been named a staff accountant at Mount Pleasant-based Johnson & Lanning CPAs. She began her public accounting career soon after graduation and came to Johnson & Lanning in January 2015.

Chelsea Trimper recently celebrated her third anniversary at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Kapalua, Hawaii, where she was hired as a naturalist with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment program. A resident of Maui, Trimper earned the Ritz-Carlton “5 Star Award” as the Learning Coach/Supervisor of the Year in 2014.

Rebekah Harding is a member of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Myrtle Beach Real Estate’s top producing team, The Horonzy Group. As a student, she completed an internship with Berkshire Hathaway.

Jennifer Cangeme is a recipient of the James E. Clyburn Fellowship sponsored by the South Carolina Democratic Party. She is one of three recipients from Horry County.
LeAna Norman is the co-owner of Contagious Cuts, an upscale barbershop in Myrtle Beach. While pursuing a degree in psychology at CCU, she also earned a barber license. Norman attributes the business knowledge gained at CCU as the springboard for starting her own business.

Barbara J. Blain-Bellamy was recently elected as the new mayor of Conway, S.C. She has served on Conway City Council for 10 years, and also served four years as its deputy city administrator.
1998
Tracy A. Erwin visited her alma mater in October with stepson, Jacob, a senior at Pee Dee Academy in Marion County. She worked in marine science before pursuing a career as a speech pathologist. Jacob plans to major in exercise and sport science.
2004
Teena Bailey Rogers is a columnist for the Florence Morning News and splits residence between Dillon and Florence, where she lives as a newlywed with her husband, Allan.
Brooke Cox, senior director of Tidelands Health Group, has been named practice administrator manager of the year by a statewide organization of her peers. The award recognizes Cox for outstanding leadership abilities in her local South Carolina Medical Group Managers Association chapter, enhancing the strategic operational effectiveness of Tidelands Health and for promoting quality healthcare delivery to patients. She earned a master’s degree in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Christopher A. Halkowitz CPA, CFE, senior manager at Scott and Company LLC, one of South Carolina’s leading accounting, tax and consulting firms, has been promoted to a member of the firm. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Roosevelt Corbett and Fredricka Dillard were married on Saturday, Sept. 26, at The Millstone at Adam’s Pond in Columbia, S.C.

Vanessa L. Suggs has worked as a travel nurse at East Texas Medical Center, the Medical University of South Carolina and Duke University Hospital. She plans to move to the Dominican Republic in January 2016 to serve as a full-time medical missionary through SCORE International, providing quality medical care to Dominicans and Haitians in sugar cane villages.

Lucy A. Aplan graduated in May 2015 from Pennsylvania State University with an associate degree in medical laboratory technology. She passed the national American Society for Clinical Pathology board exam in August and is now a certified medical laboratory technician.

Samantha E. Durham earned a master’s degree in social work. For the last five years, she has been a part-time therapist at a community center working with young children and their families.

Jesse D. Nevins is a membership coordinator and teacher with CREATE!, a Conway artist group that is building an artistically vibrant community by supporting regional artists and promoting public participation in the arts. She also teaches an afterschool program for elementary school-age students at the Mary Thompson Building in Collins Park.

Karen Kowalewski of Bel Air, Md., is an assistant account executive at GKV, which provides a complete range of strategic communications and engagement services. She oversees projects and performs day-to-day relationship management functions for clients.
2014
Patrick S. O’Brien has been named program director for the First Tee of the Grand Strand. He is the lead coach at Eagle Nest Golf Club’s afterschool program and works the bag drop at Barefoot Resort’s Dye Club. He held an internship with the PGA of America’s Northern Texas Section based in Dallas from January through August 2014 and ran the section’s junior series for ages 7-17.

Rebecca T. Godwin retired in June 2015 from Bennington College, where she taught literature and writing. A novelist and short-story writer, she founded and was faculty editor of plain china, Bennington’s national anthology of undergraduate writing.

Michael J. Kelly was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Doug Stamper in Netflix’s House of Cards.
1993
Christopher Boyle, writer, musician, historian, scholar, designer and professor, has published Mansfield Plantation - A Legacy on the Black River, an account of the plantation’s past. He is a part-time teaching associate at CCU and a full-time social studies teacher at Socastee High School. Boyle a master’s in American history at Winthrop University.
1994
Jatana Brown Jackston is headed to the Mrs. America pageant on Sept. 26. A former CCU cheerleader, she is the reigning Mrs. Virgina. Jatana and her husband Joshua, have been married for 10.5 years. Together, they have two boys: Joshua, 6, and James, 4. She teaches Elite Beachbody, a health and fitness program.

Jessica Keffer and Cody Clinton were married in June on the beach in Lewes, Del. Jessica is a postdoctoral research scientist with DuPont and Cody is a sports medicine physician with Cooper Bone and Joint Orthopaedic Institute. They live in Philadelphia.

Heather Eberlin has officially opened her State Farm agency in West Ashley - Charleston at 1954 Ashley River Road, Suite J, Charleston, SC 29407. Heather also owns a marketing company that does custom screen printed shades, MyTourGear.com and is on the Board for the Alumni for CCU. She is starting a Charleston alumni chapter here that will launch October 14.

Meredith L. Alexander and Matthew Byrd were married on June 26, 2015. A reception was held on July 18 at Lakeview Country Club in Hartsville, S.C. Meredith is employed with Horry County Schools. The groom attended Florence Darlington Technical College and is employed with BauschLinnemann of Myrtle Beach.

Elecia Chumley works for the Laboratory Corporation of America. She is conducting immunological testing and has done cancer research and testing, clinical trials and prenatal testing.
Patrick Nemes and Caitlyn Kelly of Basking Ridge, N.J., have announced their engagement. He earned a juris doctor degree from the Roger Williams University School of Law in 2014. He is employed as an associate with Dvorak & Associates in New Brunswick, N.J. A July wedding is planned.

Cameron Freeman has been promoted to assistant vice president-branch manager at Bank of Travelers Rest. He earned an MBA from Anderson University.
Colin Keane is the lacrosse operations manager for Major League Lacrosse.
Savannah Rhame is the Myrtle Beach market manager for Reserve Direct, an online travel reservation company. She previously was the market and sales coordinator at The Palace Theatre.
Caitlin H. Sweeney is a first-grade teacher at Coney Island Prep, a charter school in Brooklyn, N.Y. She previously worked with Teach for America and taught for two years in a low-income school in Jacksonville, Fla.

Kate Duggan is a member of the aqua cast for Oasis of the Seas. She has six years of gymnastic training and formerly performed at Pirates Voyage in Myrtle Beach.

Anthony Germany is a customer service representative at Prysmian Group in Columbia. He is enrolled in a LSAT prep course.
2015
Antwan K. Adams is in a dual degree program at USC which allows Antwan to complete his Masters Studies as well as Doctorate studies. Antwan also works as a residential coordinator for a non-profit organization that serves individuals with intellectual disabilities in Columbia.
David Barker is a graduate student at West Virginia University.
Chelsea A. Pope and Jordan Dail were married on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Parker’s Pond Plantation in Andrews. They honeymooned in Honolulu, Hawaii. She teaches at Kensington Elementary School in the Georgetown County School District. The groom is employed with the family-owned business, 3D Metal Works in Andrews. The couple lives in Kingstree.

Clark B. Parker has been appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley and confirmed by the South Carolina Senate as an at-large member of the S.C. Commission on Higher Education.
1988
John K. Faidley made his PGA Tour debut at the RBC Heritage on April 13. He earned a spot into the RBC thanks to his outstanding play at the Carolinas PGA Head Professional Championship in Okatie, S.C. Faidley is the head pro at Forsyth Country Club in Winston-Salem, N.C.
1994
Wendy C. Trott, Ph.D., an ethnographer of Gullah Studies, recently presented “ROOT MEDICINE: African Spirituality in South Carolina,” as part of the Reign of Rice Lecture Series at Brookgreen Gardens. She earned a bachelor’s from USC-Coastal and a master’s and Ph.D. in African American studies from Temple University. Her dissertation, “An Afrocentric Analysis of the Transition and Transformation of Root Medicine as Spiritual Practice Among Gullah People of Lowcountry South Carolina,” is an examination of African aesthetics and African-based traditional medicine in the rural south.

Carrie C. Shearin lives in Tega Cay, S.C., with her husband and two children, Troy, 8, and Zoe, 6. She has been a stay-at-home mom the last eight years and is involved with the school PTO.

Erin Donovan-Boyle has been appointed executive director of the Rhode Island’s Newport County Chamber of Commerce. She previously worked as director of outreach for U.S. Sen. Jack Reed. Her background includes serving as executive director of Ocean State Tall Ships, as campaign manager for former R.I. Secretary of State Ralph Mollis, as vice president of the Mayforth Group, a government relations firm based in Providence, R.I., and Washington, D.C., and as a funding specialist and project manager for the Newport County Development Council.

Clayton S. Cook, a second-grade teacher at Maryville Elementary School, has been named the Georgetown County School District Teacher of the Year. He is also Maryville’s technology facilitator. In 2009, he earned a M.Ed. from Columbia College in divergent learning. In 2013, Clayton completed two M.Ed. degrees – instructional technology and educational leadership – at once from Coastal. His wife, Kimberly, is a stay-at-home mom, and his kids Jordan, McKinlee, Raegan and Colby are 14, 11, 6 and 8-months-old, respectively. The Cooks live in the Browns Ferry area.

Paige E. Landry-Bird is a realtor with Re/Max Ocean Forest and recently was named the top Re/Max agent in South Carolina for 2014 with 151 closed transactions.

Dana L. Webb recently earned the Diamond Award (employee of the year) from Land South Construction in Jacksonville, Fla. She leads the company’s accounting department and manages day-to-day operating activities such as payroll, budgeting and financial reporting.

Annette L. Grandolfo ’04 works in special education with individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. She graduated in 2014 from Montana State University Billings with a master’s in special education with applied behavior analysis specialization. She is a board certified behavior analyst and lives in Portland, Ore., where she works for Western Psychological and Counseling Services providing in-home treatment for individuals ages 3-17 diagnosed with autism.

Farabe' Algor was crowned Mrs. Texas International in March. She will represent the Lone Star State during the Mrs. International pageant this July in Jacksonville, Fla. Her family includes husband, Justin, and three children.
Amy S. Pazahanick is the CEO of Agape AcadAmy Management Group, a tennis academy designed to bring top quality tennis programs to communities. While at Coastal, she was a member of the women’s tennis team and earned a bachelor’s in recreation and sport management.

Gina M. Lavoice was recently named a business development manager with Palace Resorts, which offers five-star, all-inclusive vacations in Mexico and Jamaica. She collaborates with travel agencies in Delaware, New Jersey and Staten Island. Before joining the Palace Resorts team, Lavoice worked for more than two years as a frontline sales executive at Wyndham Vacation Ownership, where she was recognized as a key contributor for her outstanding sales accomplishments.

Quinn Backus (Houston Texans) and Chad Hamilton ’14 (Chicago Bears) have signed NFL undrafted free agent contracts while Joe Kaleta ’14 has been invited to the Cleveland Browns NFL rookie mini-camp. Backus was a three-time All-American as well as the first three-time Big South Defensive Player of the Year. Hamilton was a five-time, first team All-American and a second team Associated Press All-America. Kaleta played both offensive and defensive line for the Chanticleers.

Patricia Taylor has a new granddaughter, Rosemary Allison Reid, born on Nov. 18, 2014. Jacquelyn Taylor ’01 and Rich Reid are the proud parents living in Conway.

Charles M. Davis, a former CCU tennis player and head women's tennis coach, has been the president and owner of NRSM Inc., since 1999. Located in Myrtle Beach, his company completed the specialty coatings work on CCU’s 12 new tennis courts and also provided and installed the custom nets at the complex.

Martha Sue M. Brunson teaches swimming for a living. She previously worked for 25 years in her family’s business, Wee Care Day School in Myrtle Beach. During the past few years, she has begun participating in marathons, triathlons and ironman competitions. Brunson has three children; Lewis, 27; Christopher, 24; and Elizabeth, 21.

Regina A. Ward is a new member of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys. She is a solo general practitioner and founder of the award-winning Ward Law Firm in downtown Conway, S.C. Her practice focuses on family law, criminal law and personal injury. She has also been elected to CCU's Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Trent Chambers is a new member of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys. A native of Greenville, S.C., he moved to the Myrtle Beach area shortly after graduating high school. He earned a bachelor's in business administration from the University of South Carolina at Coastal Carolina and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Chambers has been in private practice since 1999.

Debra A. Hartney has joined Coldwell Banker’s Milford Branch. She launched her real estate career 17 years ago and has specialized in new construction sales since 2000. Hartney also has been a certified water aerobics instructor at the Sussex Family YMCA. She is a member of the Sussex County Association of Realtors, the Delaware Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.

Stephanie M. Foote is an associate professor of education and director of the Master of Science in First-Year Studies graduate program at Kennesaw State University. She also is on the board of visitors for CCU’s University College, is serving a two-year appointment as faculty liaison for NASPA’s International Education Knowledge Community and is serving a four-year term as an advisory board member for the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition. In addition, she traveled to Nottingham, England, to present papers at the European First-Year Experience conference and was named a 2014 Wye Fellow and participated in the Wye Seminar.

Donald M. Newell lost his wife, Cher Kingsley-Newell, Dec. 26, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. They were married for 13 years.
Christian B. Kahler moved from Australia to the USA in 1993. He earned a master’s in remedial education and a master’s in exceptional education. He has spent 15 years teaching in Palm Beach County. Concurrently for the last 14 years, he has taught reading, English and education courses at Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach State College. He recently published a children’s book, The Epic Adventures of Big Binks.

Renne is the chief strategic partnership officer at Sierra Military Health Services, where he develops new relationships, helps grow existing relationships with provider organizations and manages strategic planning and business development initiatives. He formerly served as vice president of network innovations, a position he held since 2011, and was the director of provider network management.

Mark A. Kerr and his wife, Krista Huff, welcomed their first child, Vivian Rose Lenoir Kerr, on Oct. 11, 2014. They live in Charleston, S.C., where Mark is a technical consultant to the Department of Homeland Security.

Candice G. Turner is Green Sea Floyds Elementary School’s teacher of the year.
Justin B. Loya ’oversees production, forecasting, logistics and other areas of supply chain for Narragansett Brewing Company in Providence, R.I. He enjoys being involved in new product development and a part of the growing craft beer market.

Ernest Trey Gerrald has recurring roles on the Netflix hit Orange is the New Black, NBC’s Next Caller, and Hulu’s Deadbeat. He also can be seen in Tina Fey’s Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Steven Spielberg’s TNT series Public Morals, FX’s You’re The Worst, TVLand’s Younger and The CW’s The Carrie Diaries. He lives in New York City and served as the directing team’s assistant on the reimagined Les Miserables, which is now playing on Broadway.

Heather R. Levine is in her fourth year of teaching at Green Sea Floyds High School, where she was named teacher of the year.
Jerome L. Simpson signed a two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers. He set a career-high with 726 receiving yards on 48 receptions and one touchdown in 2013. He was named the 2004 Big South Freshman of the Year and set Big South single-season records in 2006 with 1,077 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
Tara L. (Hill) England and Trevor D. England ’11 were married on Oct. 17, 2014, in Bethel, Maine. Their four-day event was the 2014 Real Maine Wedding of the Year, which the couple won during a video competition sponsored by Real Maine Weddings magazine. Valued at $100,000, their wedding was featured in a 26-page spread in the January 2015 issue of the magazine. See their story at www.realmaineweddings.com. Tara and Trevor live in Massachusetts.

Lauren E. Bohrer earned a master’s in marine science at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2013. She studied primary production in freshwater to oligohaline tidal creeks.
Katherine Hutson married Nathan Hutson on Nov. 1, 2014, in Aynor, S.C., where they live.
Maranie R. Staab took a trip in December to Uganda with the Pittsburgh-based Project to End Human Trafficking to help communities better respond to the ongoing crisis. Project volunteers work with some of the thousands of children who were abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army, which kidnaps boys and turns them into soldiers and turns abducted girls into sex slaves. Staab, a global sales and client manager for Xerox Services, is an aspiring photojournalist who documented the trip for the project.
Matthew F. Manning is the new head football coach of Palmetto Christian Academy, where he served the last two seasons as the offensive and defensive line coach. He was an offensive lineman for the Chanticleers.
Briana L. Patton earned a doctorate in physical therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in August 2014. She works for Apex Physical Therapy in Chalfont, Penn.
Emalee Spencer was chosen as Chesterfield County School District’s 2014-15 Teacher of the Year. She teaches second grade at Petersburg Primary School in Pageland, S.C.
Benjamin M. Binder is a biology graduate student at Florida International University. He works in the fisheries acoustics lab utilizing sonar technologies to locate and monitor reef fish spawning aggregations in south Florida. After graduating from CCU, he spent several years as a biologist with Florida Fish and Wildlife, stationed in the Florida Keys.
Amanda C. Gruber is a graduate student at Green Mountain College in Vermont, where she is studying environmental science with a specialization in conservation biology. She works with the South Carolina State Park Service at Hunting Island State Park as a naturalist responsible for habitat protection, recreational/educational programs and animal care.
Brandon M. Toms is the owner and founder of FST Dive Services, a commercial diving company in Myrtle Beach that specializes in ship husbandry and salvage.
Keri F. (Brzozowski) Gloth married Matthew Gloth in September 2014. The bridal party included Sarah Libby ’09 and the maid of honor was a current CCU softball player Cassidy Brzozowski. Keri manages corporate and social events throughout the United States.

Rachael L. Henry teaches English at Taiyo Kindergarten in Japan. She moved to Komaki, which is a small city outside of Nagoya, in September 2014.
Caitlin L. Shields works at Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium with the aquarium’s California sea lions, harbor seals and Asian short-clawed otters. She also leads the aquarium’s public talks and feeding displays. A qualified diver, she previously worked in Texas, Hawaii, Vancouver and at the National Aquarium in Washington, D.C.
Zachery D. Hart is a measurement while drilling engineer for Scientific Drilling International, one of the world’s leading companies for oil field wellbore placement and services. After graduating from CCU, he worked as a dive master for SCUBA Express in Murrells Inlet, S.C.

Danielle M. Messinger married Christopher Draewell ’11, ’12 in October 2014. Danielle is a wildlife biologist for the Marine Resources Division of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources in Charleston.
Jacqueline W. St. Onge is pursuing a master’s in school counseling at Northern Kentucky University.
2013
Jolene M. Hiller was the top student among the 53 graduates of South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Class 625. She received the J.P. Strom Award, given to the student who obtains the highest overall academic average, with a minimum of 96 percent, including the successful completion of all performance tests. Hiller is now an agent with the S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services in Conway.
Lauren E. Kies traveled to Malawi with Habitat for Humanity as part of its orphaned and vulnerable children’s program.
Courtney K. Moser graduated first in her class from Major League Soccer’s National Sales Center and is now a sales associate at Sporting Kansas City.
Mark Nevin is full-time scuba and technical diving instructor with Scuba Express in Murrells Inlet, S.C.

Alysha M. McGrath has been accepted to the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.
Alexa L. Doggett is living in NYC, where she is a personal assistant for a Broadway producer, Catherine Schreiber. She also works nights and weekends in front of house with “Sleep No More,” which is an immersive theatre experience in Chelsea. In addition, she performs for Paula Vogel’s “How I Learned to Drive” off-off Broadway with the Nuance Theatre Company and is touring with the children’s theatre company TheatreWorks as “Alexander” in its musical version of “Alexander and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”

John and Linda Malatia recent visited CCU for a campus tour with their daughters. Jacqueline has been accepted to CCU for Fall 2015. The Malatias are awaiting Jacqueline’s decision to see if she will continue the family tradition.

Darren P. Gore is the head boys’ basketball coach of Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach. The Saints earned back-to-back SCISA State Class A Championships in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

John P. Bryer moved to Salt Lake City in 2007 and now runs Utah’s Golf Week and Senior Amateur tours.
Valerie Craig-Ndiaye works in New Jersey as a physical education teacher/wellness leader at Alexander D. Sullivan Elementary. The school was honored at the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Leaders Summit, where Valerie spoke about changes in Jersey City Public Schools.

Treda Grayson s a member of the Forty Under 40 Prince George’s County 2015. She is an environmental protection specialist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Office of Water. Grayson leads the National Coastal Condition Assessment, a monitoring program designed to assess the ecological condition of the nation’s estuarine and coastal waters. She was elected as the 2014–16 president of the Atlantic Estuarine Research Society, which is the Mid-Atlantic affiliate of the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation. She also regularly mentors young girls of color in the metropolitan Washington area through a program called SisterMentors. Grayson earned a master’s in environmental sciences and policy from Johns Hopkins University and is a doctoral candidate in environmental science and public policy at George Mason University.
Michelle A. Ruthenberg, director of dive safety/special projects at Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, S.C., took the graduate course in pursuit of a master’s degree from Miami University’s Global Field Program. She studied the ecosystems, desert plants and the diversity of life at the Bahía de los Ángeles UNESCO World Heritage site and in the crystal blue waters of the Sea of Cortez.

Sharon L. McGhee is a member of 2015 Leadership South Carolina, the state’s oldest and most recognized leadership development program. Her commitment to the community and dedication to reach a higher level of service to South Carolina earned her a space to participate in the nine-month program.
Heather E. Riley has moved to Elizabeth City with her husband. Riley began teaching as a biology instructor at the College of the Albemarle. Her contract project on humpback whales is with Gulf Watch Alaska’s Pelagic Ecosystem Project.
Dana Webb earned the 2014 Diamond Award from LandSouth Construction based in Jacksonville, Fla. The award is presented to the team member who best represents the company’s core values. Webb is LandSouth’s financial controller and manages day-to-day operations of the accounting department and is responsible for payroll, budgeting and financial reporting, among other duties. She earned a master’s of business administration from Georgia Southern University. LandSouth specializes in multifamily housing and senior housing and has projects throughout the Southeast.

Christopher E. Brown, an attorney with The Health Law Firm, presented a seminar at Florida Hospital East Orlando in October 2014. His presentation gave family medicine residents and medical students an overview of Florida licensure regulations and disciplinary proceedings.
Dr. Kristin Etzkorn is a rheumatology specialist with Carolina Rheumatology and Neurology Associates in Murrells Inlet, S.C. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she has completed fellowship-level training in rheumatology and offers specialized care for patients living with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus and uveitis. Etzkorn earned an osteopathic medicine degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed her residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and held a fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia.
Jason A. Schipper recently graduated from the University of Florida with a doctorate in education. He is the social studies department chair at the American Overseas School of Rome, Italy.

Lindsey Drummond ’has been promoted to student career development specialist at Virginia College in Charleston, S.C. She previously served as student finance specialist for nearly three years.

Katie Maxwell is the new manager overseeing both the St. Andrews Bay and St. Joseph Bay aquatic preserves. She previously served for four years as a biological scientist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Fisheries Independent Monitoring Program. Maxwell earned a bachelor’s in zoology from Marshall University and a master’s in marine biology from CCU.
Brian S. Yost earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina in 2012 and was an active member in the Phi Delta Phi legal honors society. After law school, he served as the judicial law clerk for the Hon. Judge Thomas A. Russo in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina. Yost now practices law at the Jebaily Law Firm, with a primary focus on personal injury and criminal defense in Horry, Florence and Marion counties.

He recently constructed a model of the former 700 block of Georgetown’s Front Street, which was destroyed in a fire, as a centerpiece for an outdoor train display during Brookgreen’s Nights of a Thousand Candles.
