Jonte's Video

The seed for Jonte Johnson was planted in fifth grade. During that year, his teacher taught the class about the various South Carolina colleges and universities. When Coastal Carolina University was covered, Jonte took notice. From that moment, it became his “dream” to attend CCU, a dream that would become reality about eight years later.

It didn’t take long for CCU to become the place that Jonte fantasized about as a fifth grader. He became deeply involved, joining a wide variety of organizations. Doing a little bit of everything has suited Jonte’s versatile personality and has introduced him to countless friends. Although it is a tough question for him to answer, Jonte admits that A.Bevy, a group dedicated to producing creative and introspective experiences, is the organization he enjoys being part of the most.

“The purpose is to find your passion and position in life,” Jonte says about A.Bevy. “And it helped me find my purpose in hosting and gave me my first opportunity to host.”

Aside from hosting events, Jonte is talented in other ways as well. He is fond of poetry, especially the diversity of the art. Jonte doesn’t limit himself to a particular genre of poetry but rather visits many different styles depending on his mood.

“When I write, I just write what is on my mind and what is in my heart,” Jonte explains.

That heart he speaks about is big. Jonte makes it a point to think of others and to be as inclusive as possible. Inspired to think outside the box, Jonte wants to one day create his own talk show for either radio or television. You have heard it from us first – keep an eye out, Jonte might be in your living room one of these days as you sit down to watch your morning TV. Will he become the next #CCU star?
