Coastal Carolina University has closed campus in advance of the arrival of Hurricane Dorian. There are, however, measures in place to keep the education being dispensed during the fall semester from coming to a halt. The University has what it calls and Academic Continuity Plan, which shifts learning in most classes to online interfaces.

ChantSafe is a website that brings together resources that CCU provides for a wide variety of crisis situations.

Chef Marques Takes Advantage of the Farmers Market

As a demonstration of what can be done with items found at the farmers market, Coastal Carolina University Executive Chef Mike Marques prepared a fresh salsa. He picked items from the market, which came to campus and transformed those ingredients in just a couple of hours. The idea was to teach students about fresh produce and how preparing food doesn't have to be difficult.

Responding to student comments, Coastal Carolina University has established the ChantSafe program. That consists of a website, which brings together all of the resources available whenever students, or anyone else on campus, encounter safety issues. Students were involved in the development of the website, which is optimized for mobile use. It is being rolled out at the beginning of the fall 2019 semester.
