Coastal Carolina University currently has just under 200 international students on campus from more than 64 countries. Over the course of the next five years, we seek to grow the international student population to at least 3 percent of the student population to catalyze interaction among students and raise awareness of and appreciation for a broader range of perspectives, build friendships around the world, and encourage and support more emboldened citizenship behaviors among all our students.
On our exit survey at the completion of their academic program at CCU, international students report a 100 percent satisfaction with the level of service provided by the International Student Support Services.
Three key areas support our focus on international students to reach this end:
International Student Recruitment and Admissions – We will work with all qualified international students to connect with our degree program managers to learn about our programs and to mentor them to completing their applications to Coastal Carolina University. Scholarships are available to support highly talented international students for those who are newly completing their secondary school education as well as those who are transferring from a community college. Moreover, we also recognize that many international students work with agents in their own countries to help them review and apply to their universities of choice, and we welcome the opportunity to work with international agents who are committed to the highest of standards in their practice.
International Student Support Services – Our Center for Global Engagement provides exceptional service to engage and mentor our international students beginning prior to their arrival on campus, supporting their visa application process, providing programs such as the Intercultural Experience Community, International Club, Chinese Club, and encouraging participation in athletic events, performances, and the more than 180 clubs and organizations at CCU.
