Here is a great story for you: A young man grows up in the area. He then decides to stay local and attend Coastal Carolina University. While at CCU, he prospers on campus as he joins organizations, serves as an orientation leader and even works at the popular bagel shop. He then graduates and stays local, inspiring legions of Grand Strand youth through his mastery of words and passion.
This story is almost entirely true. Tyrone McKenney is a Florence native who decided to attend Coastal Carolina University and make an impact immediately upon setting foot on campus. The graduation part will come very soon as Tyrone is a senior. Then, once degree is in hand, the plan to inspire others will hopefully spin into motion. Tyrone wants to become a motivational speaker, a goal that people immediately recognize as achievable once in his presence. How did you hear about Coastal?: I am a local and it was commonly mentioned as I grew up.
Why did you come to Coastal?: To create a new path for myself while still being close to home.

Favorite aspect of Coastal?: I would have to say the family atmosphere
Favorite aspect of living in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area?: The beach!
Clubs/Intramurals/other extracurricular activities involved in?: AAIM Pioneer, former Orientation Leader of two years, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity
Do you work anywhere currently (either on or off campus)?: Yes I do. I work at Einstein Bros. Bagels here on campus.
Plans after graduation?: I want to attend grad school.
What are your hobbies?: Hanging with my friends and going out to eat.
