Jesse M. Lee
Original Founder
As a Conway businessman, Jesse M. Lee was the first treasurer of the Coastal Educational Foundation Inc.; however, his work in generating community interest and support began months before the Foundation charter was signed in August 1954. He worked closely with Thurman Anderson to identify community leaders who would support the cause, and then helped gather those people together. He served actively on the Foundation for several years and later moved to the Horry County Higher Education Commission, where he was elected vice chairman in 1966.
