Gerald Boyles Naming Drive

Gerald Boyles, Distinguished Professor EmeritusJoin us in helping to change the name of the Department of Finance and Economics in the E. Craig Wall College of Business to:

“THE GERALD BOYLES DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ECONOMICS."

Dr. Gerald Boyles was a Professor of Finance at Coastal Carolina University and served as the first chair of the Department of Finance and Economics. He was Dean of the College of Business in 1979-80, a Chartered Financial Analyst, and the first recipient of the William J. Baxley Jr. Applied Business Professorship in 2000. In addition, the Gerald Boyles Student Investment Fund was created to honor Dr. Boyles' teaching legacy, both as a professor and a mentor. Dr. Boyles served on the Wall College faculty from 1973 until his retirement in 2007.

Prior to joining Coastal, Dr. Boyles was a finance instructor at the University of South Carolina and an assistant professor of finance at Old Dominion University. Dr. Boyles earned his bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and his MBA and Ph.D. in finance from the University of South Carolina.

My fellow Chanticleers,

I am reaching out today as a fellow Chanticleer who had the great honor of being taught by Dr. Gerald “Gerry” Boyles during my time at CCU. As a professor and mentor, Dr. Boyles impacted countless students during his tenure at Coastal Carolina University from 1973 through 2007. It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I announce our intention to name the Department of Finance and Economics in his honor as the newly named Dr. Gerald Boyles Department of Finance and Economics. This will provide a legacy that will forever imprint his impact on our beloved university.

While I am spearheading this fundraising effort with a lead gift, it is my hope that you will join me in making a gift to support this naming and reward Dr. Boyles for his loyalty and love for Coastal Carolina University.

Your support will help to make a significant investment in CCU students, as all of the money donated will be allocated directly to the Gerald Boyles Student-Managed Investment Fund. This fund allows students to apply their financial knowledge to various financial markets by using real money to make real investments.

While the $150,000 needed to secure this naming opportunity is not insignificant, I am confident that together we can reach our goal.

To recognize your generosity, any donor who contributes $10,000 or more will have their name embossed on a permanent plaque located in the Department of Finance and Economics.

Join me and make a pledge now to help make Dr. Boyles a permanent part of Coastal Carolina University. To get additional information, contact Eric Rivenbark, CCU's Senior Director of Major and Planned Gifts, at 843-503-9348.

I thank you for your consideration in honoring and thanking Dr. Boyles for his support and guidance during our time on campus.

Sincerely,
Mark A. Kiskunas '96
