Economics Major  


Economics is the study of how individuals, firms and countries choose among alternatives. Many successful individuals such as Tiger Woods, Meg Whitman (former CEO of eBay and Hewlett-Packard), Warren Buffett, Elon Musk (founder, Tesla Motors), Danny Glover (actor) and Cate Blanchett (actress) have a degree in economics. 

The Student Experience

  • The Wall College is home to the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics, a think tank and nationally respected resource for research in economics and real estate.
  • Internationally known faculty members in sports economics.
  • Students learn advanced coding in Python that enhances employability.
  • Students can choose from a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Economics. 
  • Economics graduates have many career opportunities with firms, nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Economics graduates often obtain lucrative jobs in financial services, banking, government, healthcare, real estate and international organizations. In fact, more Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Fortune 500 firms majored in economics than any other discipline.
  • Undergraduate training in economics provides excellent preparation for graduate work in economics, business administration, law, public administration and medicine. Economics majors, for example, consistently have the highest average test score on the Law School Aptitude Test (LSAT).
  • Economics allows students to develop critical thinking that helps them better understand the world around them. Understanding economics can help individuals make better decisions in their personal and professional lives.
