Michael Hagg

Welcome to the Coastal Educational Foundation (CEF) website. I am honored to be chairman of the Board of Directors of this storied organization. The CEF came into existence in the summer of 1954 to provide higher education to this region of the Carolinas. Through the vision, leadership and sacrifice of the CEF founders, a small private junior college with 53 students was established. From this humble beginning came the Coastal Carolina University of today, a university of 10,000+ students with a regional economic impact of approximately half a billion dollars annually.

The mission of the CEF continues to be to support Coastal and to be the advocate for our donors. As an organization we strive to be ethical, transparent and prudent in the management of the funds which have been entrusted to us. The Foundation's responsibility is to ensure the donors’ wishes are carried out with the gifts they contribute. Additionally, we have been entrusted by the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation to manage their endowment and provide their accounting services.

CCU enrolls more than 10,000 students, and offers baccalaureate degrees in 95 major fields of study. Among the University’s graduate-level programs are 27 master’s degrees, two educational specialist degrees, and two doctoral programs – the Ph.D. in marine science: coastal and marine systems science, and the Ph.D. in education. On behalf of the CEF Board of Directors and myself, I extend our deepest gratitude to you and to all those before you that have made Coastal Carolina University the outstanding higher education institution that it is today.
