Mask Mandate at CCU

Aug. 17, 2021

Dear Coastal Carolina University Community,

With the Supreme Court of South Carolina’s ruling this afternoon, Coastal Carolina University is announcing a new practice effective August 18, 2021, the first day of the fall semester.

All individuals, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear face coverings indoors. This applies to all spaces across campus except for private offices and assigned residential rooms, suites and apartments. An exception to the mask requirement will also apply for those who are actively eating inside a campus dining facility. The CCU Board of Trustees supports this immediate action.

We are mindful of the surging Delta variant all around us and want to do all we can to ensure the safety of our faculty, staff, and students. We will continue to monitor conditions and will update this policy as the situation requires. For immediate updates, the Fall 2021 Operations Plan website will be updated regularly.

Additional information concerning athletic, cultural and other gatherings will be provided later in a separate communication.

Thank you for your attention to this as we, collectively, fight to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Yours sincerely,

Michael T. Benson
