Message from President Michael T. Benson

Dear Coastal Carolina University Community,

February is a great month to show how much we care for others. And CCU’s faculty and staff have always come through for our surrounding community; with both service and philanthropic support. This February, I strongly encourage you to join CCU team members in support of our local United Way.

For 50 years, United Way of Horry County (UWHC) has served the needs of the community. They have given out more than $44 million in funding to nonprofit agencies that focus on health, education, and financial stability to individuals and families in Horry County.

This past year has been tough for our community, and our educational mission has continued to be generously supported by our neighbors. United Way has listened to the community and is laser-focused on the most critical issues. To learn more about the United Way Game Plan, please visit:  https://unitedwayhorry.org/

United Way depends on workplace campaigns and individual donations to support grants to agencies and develop special programs that directly serve the citizens of our county. Last year CCU stepped up to support United Way in reaching its goal. Every contribution combines to make our collective impact immeasurable.

UWHC only serves the local community and all donations stay here in Horry County. You can donate a one-time gift, or you can also make your commitment via CCU payroll deduction. Click Here to make your commitment.

Our goal is to raise a minimum of $15,000 to ensure that our neighbors will get the support they need through United Way’s support. For payroll deduction, all individuals signed up by February 14, 2023, will be included in our campaign. Please join me in supporting others in our community.

Living UNITED,

Michael T. Benson
