Mountain Bike Mondays

COST: Free
EXPERIENCE: All experience levels: beginner to advanced
LOCATION: Meet at the Outdoor Center

Join us at the HTC Outdoor Center for Weekly Mountain Bike Rides. Lead by our Trip Leaders, participants will ride 7-8 miles including single and double track trails of the Waccamaw Wildlife Refuge. No registration necessary. Bring your own bike or rent from us at no charge.

Huntington Beach State Park: Sept. 7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

COST: $25
EXPERIENCE: All experience levels: beginner to advanced
LOCATION: Meet at the Outdoor Center

Join @ccuoutdoors for a day of fun at Huntington Beach State Park, S.C. The park boasts a two mile Sandpiper Pond Trail ideal for hiking, and the 1/4-mile Kerrigan Trail and numerous boardwalks extend out into the saltmarsh and freshwater lagoon for exceptional wildlife viewing. Other activities include geocaching, swimming and a tour of Atalaya Castle. Bagged lunch and transportation provided.

US National Whitewater Center: Sept. 14, 7 a.m.-11:30 p.m.

COST: $60
EXPERIENCE: All experience levels: beginner to advanced
LOCATION: Meet at the Outdoor Center

Join us for a trip to the US National Whitewater Center! Participants will get a day pass that allows you to participate in any and all activities that include whitewater rafting, flatwater kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, zip lines and ropes courses. The activities you do are up to you! Transportation provided. The bus will depart campus at 7 a.m., and arrive back at approximately 11:30 p.m. This is a rain or shine event.

Climbfest 9/18 5-9 p.m.

Join us at the HTC Student Rec Center Climbing Wall for competitions, games, prizes and snacks! New climbers welcome! All equipment provided. No registration necessary. Free.

North Carolina Camping and Waterfall Trek: Sept. 20-21

COST: $75
EXPERIENCE: All experience levels: beginner to advanced. This trip will consist of moderate to advanced hiking, rappelling, trekking in wet and dry conditions.
LOCATION: Meet at the Outdoor Center

Join with @ccuoutdoors as we venture to the Saluda/Hendersonville (North Carolina) area to camp and get up close and personal with local waterfalls. Often described as an “amphibious hiking adventure”, the guided Waterfall Trek through Green River Adventures combines rappelling, canyoning, swimming, sliding, hiking, boulder-hopping, waterfalls, and spectacular wilderness. Sound awesome? This is one of our favorite adventures.

SUP Workshop: Sept. 28, 10 a.m.-Noon

COST: $10
EXPERIENCE: All experience levels: beginner to advanced
LOCATION: Meet at launch site, TBD

1.5-Hour Paddleboard Workshop on the Waccamaw River. Great for beginners the Waccamaw River is an easy place to learn how to use a Stand-up Paddleboard in flat, calm waters. Participants will need to provide their own transposition to the river, we will provide the gear.

Sunset/Moonlight Kayak Trip: Oct. 12, 6-8 p.m.

COST: $10
EXPERIENCE: All experience levels: beginner to advanced
LOCATION: Meet at launch site, TBD

Paddle with us on our two–Hour Waccamaw River Tour through the peaceful and wild swamps of the low country in downtown Conway as we enjoy the moonlight. Please note participants must provide their own transportation to the river.

Waities Island Kayak Trip: Oct. 19, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

COST: $20
EXPERIENCE: Paddlers must have prior kayaking experience and be an efficient paddler.
LOCATION: Meet at launch site, TBD

Paddle with us on a 3.5 hour ocean kayak tour through a beautiful marsh to the untouched beaches of Waites Island, an island only accessible by boat. Pack your own lunch and eat on the island. Transportation provided. Space is limited.

Pisgah National Forest: Oct. 25-27

COST: $50
EXPERIENCE: All experience levels: beginner to advanced. Hiking will require the capacity to hike through elevations changes at a moderate level for 3-4 hours uphill and down.
LOCATION: Meet at the Outdoor Center

Join us on a two day camping, hiking and mountain biking trip in the North Carolina Mountains (Brevard, N.C. area). Price includes group camping site, free gear rentals, and transportation. Food will be up to the individual.

The surrounding national forest boasts mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls and slopes thickly forested with hardwoods. The bus will leave campus at noon Friday, and return around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Rock the Wall: Nov. 6, 5-9 p.m.

COST: Free
