Mountain Bike Monday

DATE: Every Monday from February 1 - April 26

TIME: 3:00pm - 5:00pm

COST: Free

EXPERIENCE: All experience levels (Beginner-Advanced)

LOCATION: Meet at the Outdoor Center

COVID POLICY: Keep masks on your person. Individuals are allowed to remove masks as long as they are further than six (6) feet from other people.

DESCRIPTION: Join us at the HTC Outdoor Center for a weekly mountain bike ride. Led by our Trip Leaders, participants will ride 7-8 miles including single and double track trails of the Waccamaw Wildlife Refuge. No registration is necessary. Bring your own bike or rent from us at no charge.

EAP: All trip leaders will have a charged cell phone on them capable of EMS calls, a first aid kit will also be kept on their person. The University Recreation truck will be brought down at the start of the trail.

Hump Day Hike

DATE: The second and fourth Wednesday of each month (2/10, 2/24, 3/10, 3/24, 4/14, 4/28)

TIME: 3:00pm - 5:00pm

COST: Free

EXPERIENCE: All experience levels (Beginner-Advanced)

LOCATION: Meet at the Outdoor Center

CAPACITY: A total of 18 participants

COVID POLICY: Complete a temperature check before getting on the bus. Masks must be kept on person; participants may remove masks as long as they are further than six (6) feet from other people.

DESCRIPTION: Join us for a nice de-stressing hike in the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge. Take in the beauty of nature right in Coastal's backyard.

Take the Teal Express trolley to University Place. If you are on-campus, you can board the Teal Express at the East Chanticleer Shuttle Stop or the Shuttle Station. When boarding, ask the driver to let you off at "3", this is the corner where Teal Express turns into UP. Our Trip Leaders will meet you there and proceed to the hike from there at 3:00pm. Board the trolley 10-20 minutes before the start of the trip to ensure you are there on-time.

EAP: All trip leaders will have a charged cell phone on them capable of EMS calls, a first aid kit will also be kept on their person. The University Recreation truck will be brought down at the start of the trail.

Downtown Conway Kayak

DATE: February 20

TIME: 10:00am - 12:00pm

COST: Free

EXPERIENCE: All experience levels (Beginner-Advanced)

LOCATION: Cox Ferry Landing

CAPACITY: A total of 9 participants

COVID POLICY: Complete a temperature check before getting on the bus. Masks must be kept on person; participants may remove masks as long as they are further than six (6) feet from other people.

DESCRIPTION: Paddle with us on our 2-hour long Waccamaw River Tour through the peaceful and wild swamps of the Low Country in Downtown Conway. Great for beginners, the Waccamaw River is an easy place to learn how to kayak in flat, calm waters. Participants will need to provide their own transportation to the river, but we will provide the gear.

Downtown Conway Standup Paddleboard

DATE: March 13

TIME: 10:00am - 12:00pm

COST: Free

EXPERIENCE: All experience levels (Beginner-Advanced)

LOCATION: Cox Ferry Landing

CAPACITY: A total of 9 participants

COVID POLICY: Complete a temperature check before getting on the bus. Masks must be kept on person; participants may remove masks as long as they are further than six (6) feet from other people.

DESCRIPTION: A 2-hour long paddleboard trip on the Waccamaw River. Great for beginners, the Waccamaw River is an easy place to learn how to use a standup paddleboard in flat, calm waters. Participants will need to provide their own transportation to the river, but we will provide the gear.

Waities Island Kayak Trip

DATE: March 27

TIME: 9:00am - 12:00pm

COST: $20

EXPERIENCE: Paddlers must have prior kayaking experience and be an efficient paddler

LOCATION: Meet at HTC and shuttle to Cherry Grove Boat Landing

CAPACITY: A total of 8 participants

COVID POLICY: Complete a temperature check before getting on the bus. Masks must be kept on person; participants may remove masks as long as they are further than six (6) feet from other people.

DESCRIPTION: Paddle with us on a 3.5-hour ocean kayak tour through a beautiful marsh to the untouched beaches of Waities Island, an island only accessible by boat. Pack your own lunch and eat on the island.

EAP: All trip leaders will have a charged cell phone on them capable of EMS calls, a first aid kit will also be kept on their person. A bilge pump and tow rope will be carried by the trip leader. Dry towels will be kept on the land.

Sunset/Moonlight Kayak Trip

DATE: March 28

TIME: 7:00pm - 9:00pm

COST: Free

EXPERIENCE: All experience levels (Beginner-Advanced)

LOCATION: Conway City Marina

CAPACITY: A total of 8 participants

COVID POLICY: Complete a temperature check before getting on the bus. Masks must be kept on person; participants may remove masks as long as they are further than six (6) feet from other people.

DESCRIPTION: Paddle with us on our 2-hour Waccamaw River Tour through the peaceful and wild swamps of the Low Country in Downtown Conway as we enjoy the moonlight.

Huntington Beach State Park

DATE: April 17

TIME: 9:00am - 3:00pm

COST: $15

EXPERIENCE: All experience levels (Beginner-Advanced)

LOCATION: Meet at the HTC Center

CAPACITY: A total of 18 participants

COVID POLICY: Complete a temperature check before getting on the bus. Masks must be kept on person; participants may remove masks as long as they are further than six (6) feet from other people.

DESCRIPTION: Join CCU Outdoor Recreation for a day of fun at Huntington Beach State Park. The park boasts a two-mile-long Sandpiper Pond Trail, ideal for hiking, and the 1/4-mile long Kerrigan Trail, and numerous boardwalks extend out into the saltmarsh and freshwater lagoon for exceptional wildlife viewing. Other activities include geocaching, swimming, and a tour of Atalaya Castle. Students will be transported to the park and then allowed to explore the park on their own until it is time to be transported back.

Sunset/Moonlight Kayak Trip

DATE: April 26

TIME: 7:00pm - 9:00pm

COST: Free
