Women in Philanthropy and Leadership
Who we are
Women in Philanthropy and Leadership for Coastal Carolina University (WIPL) was created to transform the lives of students at Coastal Carolina University and to make a difference in the greater community by leveraging the impact of women and their donations of time, talent and resources.
WIPL was formed in 2007 under the leadership of Coastal Carolina University First Lady Terri DeCenzo with faculty and staff and some of the area's leading philanthropists and business professionals, all of whom were committed to supporting the University through collective giving and annual donations.
WIPL brings together women of diverse talents and experiences who share the ambition of building a better CCU and a better community. More than an organization, WIPL is a movement – a gathering of like-minded individuals who join their collective talents and resources to make a positive impact on the University and its extraordinary scholars. WIPL is motivating and inspiring women as leaders, donors and advocates while simultaneously transforming women's giving for greater impact.
What we do
WIPL members make a tremendous impact by providing to deserving Coastal Carolina University students and supporting leadership programs and opportunities for women across disciplines. Since its inception, WIPL has awarded 286 scholarships to Coastal Carolina students, 47 of whom have received WIPL scholarships totaling $52,550 for the 2019-2020 academic year.
To fulfill our mission and commitment to leadership, WIPL sponsors special events for members, luncheons with inspiring speakers, and provides program support for leadership opportunities both on campus and in the community. Since 2011, the Women's Leadership Conference has featured hundreds of world-class speakers and the Celebration of Inspiring Women has recognized 47 women whose lives have made a significant impact in South Carolina and the nation. The 10th Annual Conference and Celebration was held Feb. 10-11.
