Biography
Travis E. Overton of Nashville/Murfreesboro, Tenn., has been with Coastal Carolina University since July 2007. As vice president for executive initiatives/chief of staff, his duties include supervision of CHANT411, Information Technology Services, Scheduling and Event Services, University Marketing and Communication, as well as assisting in the operations of the Office of the President.
Most recently serving as vice president of student rights and responsibilities/dean of students, Overton has worked in various areas of student affairs including housing, fraternity and sorority life, student conduct, and off campus student services. He is a member of the National Association for Presidential Assistants in Higher Education (NAPAHE), Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) and Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA). Within ASCA, he served as the 2017 ASCA Annual Conference chair, 2020 Assistant Gehring Academy Chair, and 2021 Gehring Academy Chair.
Overton resides in Myrtle Beach and maintains active membership as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He also serves as an advisor for the African American Initiative for Men (AAIM) at the University.
