The chance to work with students and the community to share and expand knowledge about geospatial technologies guides much of what I do.

Jesse Rouse completed his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at Appalachian State University before moving on to an M.A, and Ph.D. in Geography at West Virginia University. Joining the Department of Anthropology and Geography is a great opportunity since it brings together the two disciplines in which he holds degrees, as well as his professional affiliations as a GIS Professional (GISP) and Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA). Jesse also brings over a decade of experience teaching geography and geospatial technologies from general education to graduate level courses.

His current research focus brings together the exploration of cultural landscapes and geospatial technologies in various contexts including recent research on perception in sacred Japanese landscapes; the use of sUAS/drones in data collection and measuring landscape change; and representing cultural works through modern 3D and interactive technologies.
