Biography

Lori Fields is a biological anthropologist specializing in ethnoprimatology. Her research explores the interactions between people and two nonhuman primates in the Visayan region of the Philippines: the tarsier (Tarsius syrichta) and the long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis). Due to the multifaceted nature of these relationships, she focuses specifically on the role of indigenous knowledge and ecotourism as they relate to nonhuman primates and conservation efforts. In the future, she would like to work more with communities in developing community education programs and also extend research projects to other island provinces in the Philippines.
