Dr. Hu received his Ed. D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, majoring in teacher education and curriculum studies with a professional specialty in mathematics education and mathematical habits of mind. He comes to us from the University of Alaska Anchorage where he served as a professor of mathematics education and chair of the department of teaching and learning. He has served in several administrative roles which include program practicum coordinator, program assessment coordinator, elementary education program lead, secondary education program lead, department chair, and associate director. He has attended the intensive two-week training at the Harvard University Management Development Program in the summer of 2018. This program prepares mid-level managers in their administrative experiences with the skills to succeed in complex roles and shifting institutional and cultural landscapes. As an AACTE member, he regularly participates in the annual conference for updating his knowledge toward national trends in teacher preparation.
