Nicole M. Arcuri-Sanders is an associate professor of counseling at Coastal Carolina University. Nicole comes to CCU from Capella University, where she served as a counselor educator, supervisor, and mentor for masters and doctoral level counseling students as well as the lead coordinator for the clinical mental health counseling program’s site-based learning. Prior to this, Nicole was an assistant professor of clinical mental health counseling at Lock Haven University. Nicole has been licensed as a counselor and supervisor in numerous states, to include South Carolina. Nicole is a nationally certified counselor, board certified telemental health counselor, and approved clinical supervisor at the national level.

Nicole’s passion for counseling began as a middle school teacher as she tried to meet the unique needs of each of her students which led her to a career in school counseling. She served schools and her community additionally as a substance abuse counselor, clinical counselor, military counselor, and liaison. Nicole’s research, scholarship, and advocacy efforts focus heavily on serving the military-connected population in addition to best practices for the counseling profession.

In 2015, Nicole received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University’s program accredited by the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). She received her Master of Education in School Counseling with a post master’s endorsement as a Substance Awareness Coordinator at Monmouth University. While at The Richards Stockton College, she minored in dance studies and earned two Bachelor of Arts Degrees, Psychology and Teacher Education with concentrations in Social Studies, Language Arts/Literacy, and Mathematics.

Nicole has embraced her love of dance into her clinical work as a dancing mindfulness facilitator and being formally trained from an early age throughout her undergrad years. This passion was further developed when opening her private practice, Rhythms of Hope, PLLC. Nicole finds that movements of all shapes and sizes help individuals to express how they feel, what they desire, and what they need to gain a sense of well-being when words cannot be found. Nicole believes her passion for empowering others is what led her to where she is now as she believes her greatest gift is to support the counselors of tomorrow become empowered to in-turn empower future clients. Nicole and her family are excited to begin their next chapter and settle down roots as they transition from active duty to civilians as part of the Coastal Carolina University community.
