Biography

Dr. Stewart is a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she majored in English. She earned her Master of Arts degree in English literature from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, where she was Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar. Her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition (with minors in post-colonial literature and theory and 19th century British literature) is from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. 

A member of the CCU faculty since 2003, she has taught a variety of courses for the Department of English, the University Honors Program, and the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program. 

Outside of the classroom, she served as the adviser for CCU’s award-winning chapter of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity.

Interesting Facts

Dr. Stewart skated for years as part of Myrtle Beach's roller derby team, the Palmetto State Rollergirls. She has also performed at Carnegie Hall.
