Biography

Dr. McDonough earned his PhD in American history from Kansas State University and specializes in westward expansion and American military history.  He teaches a variety of survey courses as well as several upper division classes such as American military history, the Civil War and Reconstruction, the American Frontier and a course on Atlantic piracy.  Dr. McDonough is an avid gamer and enjoys the intersection between history and popular culture.  When not teaching he can most often be found enjoying spicy food, playing his favorite games and visiting theme parks.
