Michael S. Ruse joined the faculty at Coastal Carolina University in 1998 and has held a variety of administrative posts including Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies (2008-2011), Chair of the Faculty Senate (2008-2011), Associate Provost (2011-2014), Director of the University Honors Program (2013-2018), and Associate Dean of University College (2014-2018). He holds PhD. and M.A. degrees in Philosophy from the Stony Brook University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Northwestern University. He also served as President of the South Carolina Society for Philosophy (2005-2006).
