Internships

If you need help finding an Internship:

  • Polish your resume and search for opportunities on Handshake.
  • Meet with Wall Center staff in Wall 228 and/or attend a PDA for help with internship search strategies, resume review, and interview tips.
  • Your current part-time or full-time job may qualify for internship credit; contact cobinterns@coastal.edu to discuss.

To register an existing internship:

  • Internships must be completed during the same semester or a future semester in order to receive academic credit. Past internships are only eligible for PDA credit.
  • It must meet the minimum eligibility requirements (see eligibility requirements below).
  • Follow the Handshake registration steps below to register an internship for academic credit.

Directions for Reporting an Internship:

  1. Log in to Handshake and navigate to the Career Center tab (top right).
  2. Select “Experiences,” then the blue tab for “Request Experience.”
  3. You’ll want to choose the appropriate Undergraduate form to fill out – either “Hospitality Mgmt.” (for HRTM majors/minors only) or the “Business Undergrad-Acct/Mktg/Mgmt/Econ/Fin” form for ALL other business majors and minors.
  4. Select the course you’d like to register for (according to your major) and indicate the amount of academic credits you’d like to receive, based on your total working hours.
  5. Make sure you remember to enter your three (3) required learning goals for this experience – we cannot process your internship without these!
  6. The approval process will then begin - your boss will be asked to approve your details via email, and we will contact you to verify course registration.
  7. If you’re registering for academic course credit, the class will be conducted in distance learning format via Moodle and you will submit all assignments and evaluations online.
  8. At the end of the term, you will automatically receive three (3) PDA credits in the 102B-Experiential Learning category for your registered internship.

**Three Experiential Learning PDA Credits will automatically be awarded at the end of the semester that an Internship is completed**
