CCU to host two commencement ceremonies Dec. 14

On Tuesday, Dec. 14, Coastal Carolina University will hold two commencement ceremonies for Fall 2021 graduates.

On Tuesday, Dec. 14, Coastal Carolina University will hold two commencement ceremonies for Fall 2021 graduates. All events will be held in-person in the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center and will also be livestreamed. Approximately 660 students are eligible to participate in the exercises.

The 2 p.m. ceremony will recognize graduates of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration and the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. The 6 p.m. ceremony will recognize graduates of the Gupta College of Science and the Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences.

The ceremonies will feature remarks by CCU board chairman H. Delan Stevens and an address from President Michael T. Benson, D.Phil. Order of exercises will also include University recognitions and conferring of degrees. Benson will be sworn-in as the University’s third president on Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. during a ceremony on the steps of the Edward M. Singleton Building. He will deliver his inaugural remarks as the commencement address.

Deborah C. Breede, Ph.D., professor of communication in the Edwards College; and Dianne L. Hall Mark, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Foundations, Curriculum, and Instruction and former dean of the Spadoni College; will be honored with distinguished professor status. George Lyerly Jr., Ph.D., former associate professor of exercise and sport science in the Gupta College, will be posthumously honored with emeritus professor status.
