The Coastal Carolina University Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences will host attorney and CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers as a guest lecturer on Thursday, Sept.15, 2022. The lecture, held in recognition of Constitution Day, is titled “The Beloved Community and American Democracy.” The event is free and will begin at 5:30 p.m. in CCU’s Wheelwright Auditorium, located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle in Conway, S.C. Sellers made history in 2006 when, at just 22 years old, he defeated a 26-year incumbent to become the youngest member of the South Carolina House of Representatives and the youngest African American elected official in the nation. He served in this role from 2006 through 2014, representing the 90th District. Sellers is an attorney with Strom Law Firm LLC in Columbia, S.C., and a political commentator for CNN.
