Corey Lee, Ph.D., a professor of instructional technology in the Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences at Coastal Carolina University, has received a 2023 Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) Classics Award for his research project, eLearnReady.com.

The MERLOT Awards program recognizes and promotes outstanding online resources designed to enhance teaching and learning and to honor the developers of these resources for their contributions to the academic community. Using an approach that is modeled after the peer review process for academic research and scholarship, a dedicated group of more than 150 faculty members representing 25 editorial boards perform peer reviews of online learning resources and instructional technology. The editorial boards annually select outstanding peer-reviewed learning materials to receive the MERLOT Classics Award.

In identifying eLearnReady for this year’s Classics Award in the field of psychology, the Psychology Editorial Board wrote the following:

“As an online readiness assessment tool, eLearnReady offers an exceptional opportunity for students to identify and reflect on online learning strengths and areas for development. When used as a class preparation tool, eLearnReady promotes rich conversation around good study habits and supports excellence in online learning.

“eLearnReady.com provides a systematic approach to assist students with online success,” said Lee. “More than 100,000 students have taken advantage of this online resource.”

As a result of the award, Lee has been invited to showcase his project during the Online Learning Consortium Innovate Conference, which will be held virtually April 4-6, 2023.
