CCU’s Grant Center to host 24th annual Economic Growth and Real Estate Summit on March 24

March 13, 2023
The 24th annual Economic Growth and Real Estate Summit will be held March 24.

Coastal Carolina University’s Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics will present the 24th annual Economic Growth and Real Estate Summit from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on March 24, 2023, at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach. The theme of this year’s summit is “The future of the Waccamaw region’s economy from a historical perspective.” Registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. The cost for the event is $60, which includes a full breakfast buffet and refreshment break. Details about registration and sponsorship opportunities can be found here.

The summit is a premier networking event where leaders from the private and public sectors can discuss key issues impacting their organizations, meet potential new clients and partners, and share ideas for a stronger economy. Speakers include: Clay Brittain III, chairman of Brittain Resorts & Hotels; Michael T. Benson, D.Phil., president of CCU; Sandy Davis, president and CEO of Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation; Michael King, founder and CEO of KingOne Properties International; Joe Moglia, executive advisor to the president of CCU; and Robert F. Salvino, Ph.D., CCU economist and director of the Grant Center. S.C. State Representative Tim McGinnis, a Grand Strand area business owner and leader, will emcee this year’s event. Joe Catenacci, CCU athletics announcer and WRNN Morning Show co-host, will be the panel moderator.

“Our community has experienced varying economic conditions in recent decades,” said Salvino. “The emergence out of the last housing cycle, a robust tourism economy, and consistent population growth have met friction from persistent labor force disruptions since the COVID pandemic, a litany of new government regulations, and an imbalance of housing supply and demand. Providing a discussion forum about these challenges across the Waccamaw region promotes a broader perspective on the state of the local economy and the associated challenges and opportunities.”

Employers seeking new talent are encouraged to take advantage of a limited number of booth spaces to promote opportunities to the attendees, including CCU’s Wall Fellows, CoBE Fellows, HTC Honors College Research Fellows, graduate students, members of the Coastal Real Estate Club, and other professionals ready to solidify their next career moves.

Promotional sponsors for this year’s event are KingOne Properties International, Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation, Mashburn Construction, Tony and Carrie Grant Fund, Santee Cooper, Monteith Construction, S.H. June & Associates, Coastal Carolina National Bank, Truist Financial, Bolton & Menk, and Horry Georgetown Home Builders Association.
