Accessibility

Coastal Carolina University is committed to ensuring its facilities, programs, and services are accessible to everyone. Listed below are the available accommodations and resources for the commencement ceremonies. If you require additional services or have questions, please contact the Office of Special Events, at 843-349-2517 or specialevents@coastal.edu, by Dec. 1, so that we can coordinate any accommodations needed. Our top priority is an enjoyable experience for all of our guests.

Student Requests

Students requesting accessible seating or assisted hearing devices, etc., should email graduation@coastal.edu as soon as possible.

Captioning

The ceremony will have open captioning in the HTC Center. A live streaming transcription of the audio portion of the ceremony will be displayed on the two larger screens flanking the main stage for guests. Seats will be reserved in section 105, inside the HTC Center, for guests needing this service.

Accessible Seating

Accessible seating is available in the first row of each bleacher section, which is designated by white and blue tape. Due to high demand, patrons using accessible seating may have one companion accompany them in the accessible seating areas. As space permits, families and friends are welcomed to sit near or behind individuals using accessible seating. However, it is important to note that accessible seating areas, like all commencement seating, are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Event staff will be on hand the day of commencement to assist.

Accessible Accommodations

Many hotels in the area offer accessible accommodations. Family and friends needing accessible accommodations are encouraged to directly contact the hotel to make arrangements.
