Grad Photo Day 1

Photographers from Grad Photos will be on campus in Blanton Park to take photos of seniors graduating this Spring, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a break from 12:30-1 p.m. Students do not need to have their regalia to participate; however, regalia will be available to borrow for students who have not yet secured theirs. Email proofs of the photos taken will be sent to the email address provided to Grad Photos by the student. In the event of inclement weather, the photos will be taken inside the Atheneum Hall Alumni Center. Click here, to sign up for a time slot. Grad Fair, sponsored by Advancement and Alumni Engagement, is an event dedicated to preparing the Spring Class of 2024 for the commencement ceremonies. Ronald D. Lackey Service Awards Dinner

The Ronald D. Lackey Service Awards was established in 1991 in honor of the late Ron Lackey for his dedication to campus and community service. The award is presented to a Coastal Carolina senior who serves the University community with conspicuous service through involvement and leadership on campus and community activities. A dinner is held annually to recognize the finalists of the Ronald D. Lackey Service Award. Invitation-only event.

Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony

The Hooding Ceremony is a special recognition ceremony for doctoral degree candidates from the Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences and the Gupta College of Science. During the ceremony, a faculty member places the doctoral hood over the head of the graduate, signifying their success in completing the graduate program. All doctoral students who apply for graduation will receive an email closer to the ceremony with additional information. Tickets are required for the ceremony, and each candidate will need to claim a ticket for themselves and then they can claim up to seven tickets for their guests.

A Photo Finish - Senior Week 

Snag those classic CCU pictures before the hustle and bustle of graduation! Classic CCU landmarks will be decked out in CCU colors, with staff on site available to take your picture. Bring just yourself, family, or friends to create those final memories. In the event of inclement weather, Photo Finish areas will be decorated on May 2. Staff will not be available on-site to assist with taking photos due to commencement scheduling so be sure to bring your friends and family to each site!

Honors Convocation 

The Honors Convocation ceremony recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of students receiving a Departmental Program Academic Award; students graduating from the HTC Honors College Program; and graduating students who are members of the Dyer Fellows, Jackson Scholars, Swain Scholars, Teaching Fellows, and Wall Fellows. Students are notified by email if they are receiving an award and are eligible to participate in the ceremony. This is not a ticketed event.

ROTC Commissioning Ceremony 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate the commissioning of the recent CCU Army ROTC graduates. The ceremony begins with the playing of the National Anthem. Then a guest speaker, usually a retired officer, gives words of advice and encouragement to the soon-to-be officers. Finally, Cadets take an oath to their country, sealing their admittance into the Officer Corps of the United States Army. In accordance with tradition, family members or friends pin the 2nd Lieutenant’s rank onto the shoulders of the new officers. The ceremony concludes with the singing of the Army Song. After years of training, the newly commissioned officers are finally a part of a long legacy of America’s finest leaders.
