Coastal Carolina University is closely monitoring the developing COVID-19 situation which continues to evolve rapidly. According to the Centers for Disease Control, COVID-19 is primarily spread from person to person. You can become infected by 1) coming into close contact (about 6 feet or two arm lengths) with a person who has COVID-19, 2) from respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, 3) from touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, and then by touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.
Covering your mouth and nose is the single best thing you can do to reduce the viral spread. Face coverings properly worn are a top priority.
All students, faculty, staff and visitors must wear face coverings on campus. This means in classrooms, public buildings, common spaces, residence halls and dining halls (except when eating or drinking). When you are outside, relaxing or walking to classes or between buildings, you are still required to wear a face covering if you are unable to physically distance from others.
By wearing a face covering, waiting 6 feet apart from others and washing your hands thoroughly and often, you can protect our campus community.
Prior to arriving to Student Health Services (SHS), you are required to call and schedule an appointment for both sick and well visits. Please be prepared to answer a series of questions when you call and when you arrive. Also, be prepared to have your temperature checked prior to entering SHS; and to gain entry into SHS, you must wear a mask or face covering that is properly covering your nose and mouth. Lastly, please bring your telephone/mobile device and charger with you to SHS; your telephone/mobile device will be helpful during the check-in process.
