The Wind Ensemble is the premiere wind band of Coastal Carolina University. With a goal of developing and refining individual and ensemble musicianship skills, the Wind Ensemble is comprised of the finest wind and percussion students within the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts as well as throughout the CCU and HGTC campuses. Membership is open to all majors selected by blind audition held at the beginning of the fall semester and as vacancies arise. The CCU Wind Ensemble strives to deliver engaging performances that are artistic, expressive, and polished. The ensemble presents its audiences with a wide variety of repertoire including chamber music, transcriptions, contemporary music, and works from the standard wind band repertoire. The Wind Ensemble meets during the fall and spring semesters (T/Th 3:35 p.m.- 4:50 p.m.) and performs four concerts each academic year.

The Coastal Carolina University Symphonic Band is a concert band which performs a variety of wind band literature and is geared toward musicians who desire a quality concert band experience. The ensemble is open to both CCU and HGTC students, staff, and faculty who wish to continue musical performance in the concert band setting and for music students wishing to gain valuable performance experience on a secondary instrument. Membership is open to all majors and no audition is required. The Symphonic Band meets during the spring semester only and rehearses one evening per week. The group performs one concert during the spring semester and is offered for academic credit.

The Chanticleer Regiment is the marching band of Coastal Carolina University and is the largest and most visible student organization on the CCU campus. The ensemble performs each year for over 50,000 spectators and appears at all CCU home football games, selected away games, and invited exhibition performances.
Consisting of sections of woodwind, brass, color guard, and featured twirlers; the Chanticleer Regiment strives for musical excellence coupled with an exciting visual presentation. In addition, the group serves as a musical ambassador for the CCU athletic community. Membership is open to all students regardless of academic major. A required pre-season camp is held each year in August one week before the fall semester begins. The ensemble meets during the fall semester only and rehearses three times a week (M/W/F 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.). The ensemble is offered for academic credit and a performance stipend is available for participation.
Percussionists (both marching battery and front ensemble), color guard and featured twirlers audition for the Chanticleer Regiment at the end of the spring semester each academic year. For all other sections (winds), no formal audition is required. Interested applicants for percussion, color guard and featured twirlers should contact the director for audition information.
Chanticleer Basketball Pep Band

The Chanticleer Basketball Pep Band is 30-member auditioned ensemble selected from the Chanticleer Regiment and throughout the university. The Chanticleer Basketball Pep Band performs for select CCU men’s and women’s basketball games, the Sun Belt conference basketball tournament, NCAA basketball tournament, and selected athletic events throughout the spring semester. Consisting of sections of woodwind, brass, and rhythm section, the Chanticleer Basketball Pep Band performs a wide variety of music reflecting the diverse demographic of Coastal Carolina University. Auditions are held each year in mid October. The ensemble is offered for academic credit and a performance stipend is available for participation.
