Saturday workshops set for Coastal Center in Litchfield

February 8, 2005

Get a sampling of yoga therapy, learn how to avoid information overload or explore your inner poet in several Saturday workshops coming up Feb. 12 and 19 at Coastal Carolina University’s Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield.

An Introduction to Yoga Therapy, taught by Lisa Rosof, is a gentle experiential workshop that blends movement, music, psychotherapy, discussion and working in dyads (working in twos). It begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m. No yoga experience is necessary. The workshop is open to all levels, and couples are encouraged to attend. The workshop fee is $50 per person, and participants should bring a bag lunch.

Learn how to avoid “information overload” in this computer workshop, “Searching the Internet and e-mail,” from 9 a.m. to noon, also at the Waccamaw Center. Helpful techniques from Carol Rose will be demonstrated to show how to search quickly and efficiently, organize e-mail and send e-mail attachments. Workshop fee is $25.

“Writing Your Way into the Poem” will be taught by Susan Meyers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19. Meyers is the 2004-2005 poet-in-residence at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston. The published poet teaches reliable strategies for generating and developing new poems. For all levels of writing experience, the workshop will feature writing activities and discussion of craft techniques, plus handouts and resources. The workshop fee is $40.

The center is located at 160 Willbrook Blvd. west of the Hampton Inn on U.S. 17 in Litchfield. To register, call 349-4032.
