Coastal to offer reading, writing and performing classes

Coastal Carolina University will offer three noncredit reading, writing and performing courses in the upcoming weeks at the Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield. For more information or to register call (843) 349-4032 or visit www.coastal.edu/outreach. The following courses are scheduled:

Book Club: Meet once a month to discuss your favorite novels. The group will collectively decide what titles and authors to delve into. Fee: $20. Conway: Second Monday each month (Mar. 13, Apr. 10, May 8), 1 to 2:30 p.m., Instructor Caroline Ewing.

Waccamaw: Fourth Monday each month (Feb. 27, Mar. 27, Apr. 24, May 22, June 26), 10 a.m. to noon, Instructor: Anne Duncan.

Writing Memoirs and Family Stories: This online course is geared towards helping writers take their thoughts and ideas and put them on paper. Students will be encouraged to take their memories, personal records and motivations to share family and personal stories. Instructor Al Perry is the founder and president of Winston-Salem Writers and an Affiliate of Amherst Writers and Artists. Fee: $75. Waccamaw: Mondays, March 20 to April 24, 10 a.m. to noon.

Star Shine Performance Training: Learn to have confidence, be comfortable and enjoy whatever type of public performance interests you: singing, acting, public speaking, karaoke or talent shows. Final class culminates with the production of a “night club cabaret” performance. Instructor JoEllen Langley, an experienced performer, is a certified music teacher and art coordinator. She will motivate, guide and inspire you to be a star. Fee: $60.

Waccamaw: Thursdays, March 16 to May 11, 6 to 8 p.m.; Fridays, March 17 to May 12, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
