CCU's presidential inauguration events begin this week

September 10, 2007

Sixty-three representatives from colleges and universities across the country will be marching in the procession for Coastal Carolina University President David A. DeCenzo's inauguration on Friday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The community is invited to the ceremony and to a lowcountry barbecue and chicken bog afterwards at 5 p.m. on Prince Lawn.

The inauguration is being held in conjunction with the university's Founders' Day celebration.

Other constituents participating in the inauguration ceremony include Coastal faculty, staff, students, emeritus faculty, alumni, board of trustees and more. The ceremony will be the second in Coastal's history; Ronald R. Ingle, the former president, was inaugurated Oct. 22, 1994.

DeCenzo, who became president on May 7, is expected to unveil his vision of Coastal's future during the event. "Dawning of a New Tomorrow" is the inaugural theme, which incorporates the elements of "Tradition, Integrity and Excellence."
