Three Coastal Carolina University music faculty members will give a recital of chamber music for combinations of guitar, flute and voice on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. The event is free and open to the public.

The recital will feature vocalist Patti Edwards, guitarist Daniel Hull and flutist Amy Tully. The program will offer a variety of pieces by composers including Johann Sebastian Bach, Jacques Ibert, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Dominick Argento and Astor Piazzolla. One of the program highlights will be Piazzolla's extended suite "Histoire Tango," which employs the guitar and flute to tell the history of the tango.

Edwards, an assistant professor of music at Coastal, has performed with many American symphony and opera companies, including the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theater St. Louis and the Omaha Symphony. She earned a master's degree in vocal performance and vocal chamber music from the St. Louis Conservatory; and doctorate in music from the University of North Texas.

Hull has been a teaching associate in Coastal's Department of Music since 2006. He earned a master's degree and a doctor of musical arts degree in guitar performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., and a bachelor's degree in guitar performance from Illinois State University.

Tully, lecturer in music at Coastal, is principal flutist with the Long Bay Symphony and a frequent performer throughout the Grand Strand area and in Wilmington, N.C. She earned a doctorate in flute performance from the University of South Carolina, a master's degree in musicology from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in flute performance from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
