Two Coastal Carolina University music faculty members will perform a recital of romantic works for flute and piano on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required from the Wheelwright Box Office.

The "Amour!" recital will feature flutist Amy Hardison Tully and pianist Gary Stegall, performing songs of romance and love in honor of Valentine's Day. The program will feature virtuoso variations for flute on themes from Bizet's "Carmen," Schumann's "Romance" and Grieg's "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen."

Tully, lecturer in music at Coastal, is principal flutist with the Long Bay Symphony and a frequent performer throughout the Grand Strand area and in Wilmington, N.C. She earned an artist diploma and doctorate degree in flute performance from the University of South Carolina, a master's degree in musicology from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in flute performance from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Stegall, an associate professor of music at Coastal, is highly regarded both as a soloist and chamber musician, and has performed throughout the world. He has served as resident pianist for the Beau Geste Trio, the South Carolina Chamber Orchestra Soloists, and as guest artist with the dePasquale String Quartet of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He earned a doctorate of musical arts at the University of Maryland, a master's degree at the University of South Carolina and a bachelor's degree from the North Carolina School of the Arts.

The Recital Hall is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
