Robert Audi, an eminent American philosopher and educator, will give a talk titled "Crossroads: The Intersection of Religious Belief and Political Choice" on Wednesday, April 9 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Wall Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University. The lecture, presented by the Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values, is free and open to the public.

The discussion will explore the philosophical ramifications of the influences of religious belief on political choice. Audi has written extensively on the intersection of religion and cultural values. His books include "Religion in the Public Square: The Place of Religious Convictions in Public Debate" (1997) and "Religious Commitment and Secular Reason" (2000). Audi was the general editor of the "Cambridge Dictionary of Philosophy" for its first and second editions.

Audi is the David E. Gallo Professor of Business and Ethics at the University of Notre Dame. He earned a bachelor's degree from Colgate University, and a master's and a doctorate degree from the University of Michigan.

His areas of expertise include ethics and value theory, moral psychology and business ethics, philosophy of the social sciences (especially psychology) and the philosophy of religion (especially religious epistemology and religion and politics). He has received many prestigious honors, lectureships and fellowships and grants.
