Coastal Carolina University names student activity director

Chris Donevant-Haines has been named director of the Office of Student Activities and Leadership at Coastal Carolina University.

Her primary responsibility is to supervise campus programming for students, including homecoming, leadership initiatives, student clubs and organizations, the Volunteer Services Center and advising the Student Government Association and student media.

Donevant-Haines, who has served as assistant director of the department since August 2006, joined Coastal Carolina University in January 2005 and served as a professional counselor in Counseling Services.

Previously, Donevant-Haines was employed for three years as legal advocacy coordinator for Citizens Against Spouse Abuse (CASA) in Horry County, and for more than six years she was a counselor with the Waccamaw Center for Mental Health in Conway. She earned a master's degree in counseling from Webster University and a bachelor's degree in social sciences from Bluefield State College in West Virginia and an associate degree in applied science from Marshall University. She is also a licensed professional counselor in the state of South Carolina. Security
