Pin Points Theatre performs African-American play

January 21, 2009

Coastal Carolina University will present "1001 Black Inventions," an educational comedy performed by Pin Points Theatre, on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. in Wall Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

"1001 Black Inventions" depicts the typical American family as it attempts to function without the inventions created by Africans and African-Americans. Through this comic "Twilight Zone" device, the play shows that black ingenuity is a vital aspect of everyday life.

Based out of Washington, D.C., Pin Points Theatre specializes in the art of "edutainment." Pin Points' mission is "to provide plays, publications and workshops that educate, entertain, and inspire happy, healthy and productive lives."

The event is part of the University's annual African-American Celebration, a series of events designed to highlight the art, history, music and theater of African-American culture. Events are scheduled throughout the 2009 spring semester.
