College Goal Saturday to aid prospective students, parents

College Goal Saturday, a free seminar designed to help high school seniors, their parents and adult high school graduates complete a college application and financial aid forms, will be held Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is sponsored by Coastal Carolina University, Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Williamsburg Technical College.

College Goal Saturday is especially for graduating high school seniors, adults with a high school diploma or GED who are considering furthering their education, and parents or legal guardians of a student who needs financial assistance to attend college.

College admissions and financial aid officials will explain the various types of aid available to students, including Pell Grants, student loans and work study programs. A 2008 tax form is necessary complete the form for 2009 semesters.
