Honors students at Coastal Carolina University are inviting the community to enjoy a vegetarian cookout during the home baseball game at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at the Charles L. Watson Baseball Stadium/Vrooman Field when the Chanticleers take on the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs.

The menu for the cookout will include veggie dogs, organic popcorn and organic lollipops. Participants are asked to bring an old pair of sneakers to donate to Nike for the Reuse-A-Shoe program or a $1 donation for Relay for Life.

"Our class focuses on how small actions at the local level can stimulate change," says Marissa Mitzner, campus sustainability coordinator. She is working with the Honors Service Learning Class to sponsor the cookout. "The cookout is aimed to help educate the community about alternative foods that are healthy for both the consumer and the environment."
