Jazz After Hours presented at Coastal Carolina University

Coastal Carolina University's Jazz After Hours Big Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 in Wheelwright Auditorium. The jazz ensemble will perform music from the Swing Era, as well as new arrangements of classic songs.

General admission is $9; seniors and alumni, $7; Coastal Carolina University and Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) students, one free ticket per valid ID; Coastal Carolina University and HGTC faculty and staff, two free tickets per valid ID; teens and children, free with ticket.

Songs by jazz legends Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and Herbie Hancock will be performed, along with modern Latin and funk arrangements in the big band style. Special guests will be featured, along with the After Hours Improvisation Combo, an improvisational group drawn from the larger ensemble.

Dan O'Reilly, instructor of music at the University, is the director. He has extensive performing experience both in New York City and along the Grand Strand. O'Reilly also directs the University's Saxophone Ensemble and POP 101, a contemporary music ensemble.
