Dean of Students named at Coastal Carolina University

Haven Hart of Myrtle Beach has been named Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Coastal Carolina University. She has been serving as interim leader in that capacity for the past year.

Hart will provide the administrative leadership for all aspects of Student Affairs including Residence Life, Campus Recreation, Counseling Services, Student Activities and Leadership, Multicultural Student Services, Student Health Services, Judicial Affairs and Off-Campus Services. Her primary responsibilities include coordinating the judicial system and managing responses to student conduct issues, as well as providing supervision and leadership for student programs such as Greek life, student government and campus programming. She reports to the Office of the Provost.

Hart joined Coastal's staff in 2006 as special projects coordinator in the Division of Student Affairs. She was dean of students at Converse College from 1995 to 2005, and served as assistant director of student organizations and leadership at the University of Alabama from 1990 to 1994. Hart earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education in 1988 and a master's degree in counseling and guidance services in 1990, both from Clemson University.
