CCU names new environmental health director

Greg Weisner has been named director of Environmental Health and Safety for Coastal Carolina University.

Weisner will be responsible for safety and emergency management, which includes conducting employee safety training, overseeing the safe usage of chemicals and other hazardous materials, and ensuring that Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed.

Before being named director of Environmental Health and Safety, Weisner was assistant director of Judicial Affairs and Off Campus Student Services at the University.

He has 18 years of experience in collegiate public safety, including three years as director of Public Safety at CCU. He is an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorized trainer.

At Spartanburg Methodist College (SMC), Weisner served as chief of campus safety, coordinator of student activities and director of residence life. In those positions, he facilitated judicial cases and developed programs for students and student organizations.

A native of Spartanburg, Weisner earned a bachelor's degree in human services at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C., and an associate's degree in criminal justice at SMC.
